State Cup April 2023

Over the weekend of April 1st and 2nd, the State Cup 2023 took place in Sydney, where our eight teams competed across two days in various divisions. The teams participating were Women’s Premier, Men’s Division 2, Women’s Division 2 & 4, Men’s Division 4 Teams 1 & 2, U18 Boys, U18 Girls.

The competition was a big success, with all teams displaying great skill and sportsmanship throughout the games. One team that stood out was the Women’s Premier team, who narrowly missed out on the gold medal and instead took home the silver.

In the final match, the Women’s Premier team played against a tough opponent, and the score was 25-11 in favour of our girls in the first set. However, the second set was in favor of the opposing team with a score of 19-25. The third set was the deciding factor, and unfortunately, our team lost with a score of 15-12, causing them to narrowly miss out on the gold medal.

Despite the result, the Women’s Premier team’s performance was a great success, especially considering it was their first time competing as a new team led by Faruk Kaymak. Their performance was a testament to their hard work and dedication, and they should be proud of their achievements.

Overall, the State Cup 2023 was a fantastic event that showcased some of the best volleyball talent in Sydney. Congratulations to all the teams that participated and especially to the Women’s Premier team for their outstanding performance. We look forward to seeing what these teams will achieve in future competitions.
